Welcome to Rubysmith Photography.

Rubysmith is Liz Rubincam (me) + Andrew Naysmith (my filmmaker husband), and is a tribute to our friendship and shared love of photography and storytelling. 

My photographic approach emphasizes the importance of documenting authentic, un-manipulated moments.  In every situation, I strive to capture real emotions, with little direction or staging. 

My passion is photographing you and your favourite people, as you are.

My background is in photojournalism and I have been documenting and gathering stories for over 15 years.  I have been most fortunate in photographing special events and portraits in all corners of the globe:  from country cottages in Northern Canada to hip cocktail lounges in New York City; from the cobblestone streets of Edinburgh to the beaches of Durban, South Africa.

Needless to say, my cameras and I love to travel.

Between adventures, home is Vancouver Island, British Columbia with Andrew and our three sons.
